About the Owners
Mark Wardlaw
Mark is originally from Camden, Tennessee, located on the footsteps of Kentucky Lake. It was on the famous hunting and fishing destination that Mark developed his passion for retrievers and for hunting ducks. Hardly a day was missed during the course of a season. At age thirteen Mark received his first lab as a gift from his football coach and a 27 year (and counting) passion began. Throughout college Mark guided waterfowlers in Arkansas. Numerous duck and goose hunts later, a realistic expectation of what a retriever could do was born. Upon graduation from the University of Mississippi Mark began work for a large corporation. This allowed him the opportunity to travel and meet many other duck hunters and retriever enthusiasts while training his own retrievers. In 1998 after years of training his own retrievers, Mark decided to take the leap to the next level. For the next 5 years Mark worked with many of the top trainers in the country. During this time many very successful young retrievers began their careers. Upon returning to Tennessee, where duck hunting and retriever roots run deep, many exciting young dogs are now beginning their careers under Mark's tutelage. The ability to produce stylish, working retrievers has allowed Mark's kennel operation to expand and develop into a complete retriever training facility for competition and hunting retrievers. As well as being Mark's partner, Stephanie is also Delta Retriever's Veterinarian. A native Minnesotan, Stephanie graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. For the next 5 years she practiced in Minnesota. Upon marrying Mark she moved to Texas where she had the opportunity to work with Dr. Ed Aycock at his practice in Lewisville. Since moving to Tennessee, she is delighted to work at Animal Care Hospital in Dyersburg www.animalcarehospital.com. When not caring for dogs and cats at the clinic or the dogs at Delta Retrievers, she cares for their son William, Mark and the old house pets. Stephanie keeps the dogs up to date on physical exams, immunizations, OFA X-rays and general health maintenance. |
